The mosaic is an antique decoration used by the Romans many years ago to decorate any new construction or monument but it is always updated. If marble or glass pieces are put one by the other it is possible to create floors and dressings with Greek fret designs, rosettes , carpets that are unique and unrepeatable.

These masterpieces either with some other materials or used alone put more value on any project giving the dressing a touch of elegance and fascination.

The origins of the flooring “venetian style” was early used in Greek Hellenistic times, when there was already in use a type of floor made by simple cobbles that was also enriched by decorative items. Pebbles differing from colors and forms glued together with lime or clay, were proposed again also at Roman times, until when they were not substituted by porphyries and marble.

A last evolution was represented by the use of “tessere” (weavings) mainly in paleo -Christian and Byzantine ages. But if the mosaic represented such a role in the flooring art of our country and kept its own identity as time passed by its due to the work of the artisans from the Friuli that could pass on this handwork called “battuto”(wrought) introducing it in the city of Venice. It was right there that the flooring was further developed and refined to such an extent so as to get a really high artistic level.
